The counter at 150 King Street West.
A working counter for the morning flow of the financial district, with corporate pre-orders for neighbouring floors and a quiet room of 24 seats for small groups that need a table rather than a queue.
How the counter runs
Public queue, account collection, tray service
Weekday trade concentrates between 07:15 and 09:30, when the towers around King and University empty into the PATH. The public line is single-file at the bar. We do not take table service during that window; drinks are called at the hand-off and the quiet room is reserved for booked groups only.
Corporate accounts do not join that line for floor orders. Pre-orders placed against an open account are assembled on trays of ten or twenty cups and released at a marked collection window on the same concourse. A runner from the floor can collect without waiting behind walk-in tickets.
After 10:00 the counter is quieter. Filter bar and kitchen tickets move faster, and the quiet room can be used by walk-in guests if it has not been booked. Saturday follows a shorter day with no corporate delivery and no tray window.
Accounts
Corporate pre-orders and trays
Tray service starts at ten cups and is packed in tens or twenties so that a floor can split an order without opening a carrier mid-route. Mixed drinks on a single tray are accepted when the ticket names each drink; we will not guess a split at the window.
Orders must be with us by 15:00 on the previous working day. Same-morning additions are taken only if the bar can absorb them without delaying the public line, and they are never guaranteed. Delivery inside our weekday windows is available to addresses we already serve in downtown Toronto, North York, Etobicoke, Mississauga and Vaughan. Collection from the King Street window is available to any open account.
Charges post to the company account on the monthly statement. We do not take a personal card against a tray that has been booked to an organization. A cancelled tray notified before 15:00 the previous working day is not billed; later cancellations are billed for the coffee already staged.
Bookings
Bookings and the quiet room
The quiet room holds 24 seats in ordinary use and is reserved for morning meetings of up to ten people. Larger groups are asked to use their own rooms and to book tray or barista service instead. Bookings run in 90-minute slots from 07:30 to 10:30, Monday to Friday.
A confirmed booking includes the table, still and sparkling water, and coffee and tea for the named headcount. Food from the kitchen list can be added to the same ticket. We do not provide a projector, a conference line or a receptionist; those remain with the visiting organization.
Requests are confirmed in writing by the previous working day. The room is released if we have not received confirmation by 15:00. Walk-in use after 10:30 is first come, first seated, and is withdrawn when a later booking needs the space.
